Easy Homemade Christmas Food Gifts

Easy Christmas Crafts Kids Can Help With by

Getting into the holiday spirit is possible anytime of the year. It is never too early or too late, to start making Christmas crafts. Baked goods can be frozen for up to six months if securely wrapped. Whether you make them for yourself or to give as gifts, creating them can be a very enjoyable and stress relieving experience.

If you typically give baked goods as gifts, why not take it one step further and make the gift bag as well. (Homemade gifts of any kind are really worth their weight in gold or in this case, cookies.) This is a great project for kids.

Simply decorate a plain brown paper bag any way you see fit. You can use markers, paint, stickers, glitter, beads and any other kind of holiday related embellishments of your choosing. The decoration can be as basic or complex as you want it to be. Remember, it’s really the thought that counts.

After the bag is decorated, wrap desired baked goods in plastic wrap in place in paper bag. Next, using a paper punch, punch several holes along the top edge of the bag. Thread ribbon through holes and tie to close.
Use clear cellophane bags filled with curly ribbon at the bottom. Rest the package of cookies (wrapped of course) on the curly ribbon. Tie a contrasting ribbon at the top of the bag to close it.

If you’re not into baking here are a few more ideas.
Hand-decorated votive holders are another easy Christmas craft and gift idea. They can be decorated to reflect other holidays and events, as well. Almost everyone loves candles. They are even the perfect gift for someone who has everything.

Purchase clear glass votive holders, which are void of any kind of decoration. For best results you should choose those that have a smooth surface. (This will make the gluing process much easier.) To save money, you can easily purchase them online in bulk quantities.

You will want to decorate them with items, which are relatively heat resistant. You will also need to purchase heatproof glue. Ideal items include glass beads, charms, small pine cones, nuts or berries and stickers.

Bath salts are easy to make. Mix 4 cups of non iodized table salt with a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid. Do NOT use dishwasher liquid. Add a few drops of food coloring and a teaspoon of scented oil a few drops at a time. Mix well. Package in clear glass jars used for canning foods or clear cellophane bags.
